Australia Day….

The koala who resides in our backyard.
She has been here all summer.
She sleeps a lot and climbs up to eat the fresh green leaves high up.
She licks the bark during the rain.
Surprisingly agile and has amazing balance.
In big winds she nestles in the bigger, lower branches.
When a male comes to call there is always  lots of growling and screeching.
She tends to spend more time in the smaller, higher branches,
as he is too big and heavy to get to her up there.
We have had an education into the life of a koala.

This Australia day may you find peace where you live.
Our family is relaxing and celebrating that we live in a place with no war,
we can afford our home and share food with friends on a gloriously sunny day.
When i pay attention to the simple things of life, i smile.
The koala in the tree has no worries, neither do i.

A town called Cassis....

A wonderful place for a summer beach holiday.

All roads lead to ......

A sparkling little harbour...

Mysterious archway, now a courtyard wall.

Interesting alleys, with sky gardens.

Ah,

Arghh.

The view, day & night.

Boat cruise to see the calanques, the inlets and grottos along the rocky coast.
Quite stunning, unusual and wonderful.

 Magic on the water.
Thoughts of home, family who love boats & water, Australian places, far away.
 Breath-taking.

The rock formations form their own spires, which look like natures churches.
So beautiful.

The light cracks the heat haze and everything sparkles.

Splashing through the water, cools our faces and makes us laugh & laugh.

Evening in the harbour has a wonderful, festive atmosphere.
Night swimming a highlight for the kids.

I left a little note for tomorrows sun bathers to discover.

This is the back of one of the most popular boulangeries in town.
It is hundreds of years old. Been pumping out the "good" bread everyday.
At the front always a line of people.
Palettes of flour and steel wracks, the open door the only breeze,
reflecting a working jewel of Cassis.
A special discovery.

The cafe always good, smiling boy seeing his name on the cup,
last bite of the croissant and we are done.

catching the light...

summer in australia is startling.
the light is bright.
it is healing.
it warms ones soul.
bronzes the skin.
the light encourages
ice cream adventures,
drives in the country,
monarch butterflies to flit about,
children to want to be in water all day,
chilled drinks that clink with ice,
late nights,
and a desire to catch it in a photograph.
