Red.....

Every leaf speaks bliss to me,
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
Emily Bronte

There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky,
which through the summer is not heard or seen,
as if it could not be, as if it had not been!
Percy Bysshe Shelley

 Today was a good day.
We explored in the late afternoon.
There was a theme.
Red.

 Rushing past...

 falling leaves
hide the path
so quietly
John Bailey
Autumn, A Haiku Year.

Then we came to the Japanese Garden.
Which was serene and surprising.

Then a church with gorgeous wall art.

Little cherub in the red brick wall.
We also went to the Musee St Raymond.
Excellent exhibition about the archaeological dig
that has been uncovered in Niel.
We watched an interesting video at the entrance of the museum about the dig site and the amazing artefacts they were finding. I said to French husband it will be great when they put it all together and put it all in a museum. Then i realised that this WAS the exhibition we had just walked into.
Oh we laughed.....
DOH!

Friends and the forest...

Our new friends took us on an adventure to a forest just out of the city.
It has a 2km walking track with many meandering trails.
The kids picked up sticks and then we looked for hidden thing.
These are all the things we saw.
Mushrooms in the undergrowth.
Little red berries.
Slimy slug as big as your middle finger with orange little feet. Ugly.

 Sun streamed throughout the branches.
We had a picnic and it was very windy, but in here, protected, it was a true wonderland.

 New friends.
 More mushrooms.

 Hiking. Having fun. Playing games.

Due to the rain there was even a swamp.
Nothing like throwing sticks & stuff into the water.
Splash !
 A little lady bug.

 More mushrooms.

Then time for some mini golf.

Life is in the details....

When you walk around do you look where you are walking?
In France you learn to look down.
Not only for the bombs the dogs leave,
but to steady your footing on 500year old walkways.
We were setting off for 4 days in the mountains,
when we could not understand why it smelled like there was a dog bomb in the car.
Miss 6 had been bombed.
Her new hiking boot,
you know the ones with all the grooves for good grip and solid footing,
 had a fresh one imbedded.
Merde....
My job was to find a way to not take this unpleasantness with us.
Resourceful as any mother is, i worked it out.
Not a great memory. Now shared with you.
Our journey is intricate, coloured with all the wonderful as well as, some challenges.
The trick is to live in the moment.
I have found by being in the moment and seeking out ordinary beauty,
i cope with all sorts of situations much better.
The flowers here are mostly gone. All the public spaces have been cleared.
To find some remaining blooms reminds me the northern hemisphere is going into winter.
It might be time to return home.

They really look after the animal people in this country.

Stone is enduring. While everything else has an impermanence to it.
There are no more strawberries left at the markets.
It is one of the nice things here that everything has a season.
We went to a country MacDo (pronounced doe), as they call it here.
We ordered these ......  Royal with cheese.
Then had the whole Pulp Fiction conversation about said burger.
Classic for anyone who was in their 20's in the '90's.
It was on tv this week, of course,
and French husband said much of the dialogue does not translate.
We missed the Royale conversation.
You can watch it here if you want.
Its the little differences.

As we meander through the the differences, we have slowed down.
There is no hurry.
There is life to observe, beauty to invest in and moments to savour.
 Their old is my new.
We just don't have the same way of looking at things.
I love this cup it reminds me of hydrangea flowers.

I am in love with the wild flowers and weeds on the roadsides.
But when i look up,
the differences in the kinds of details capture my imagination.
Who lives here?

The glass above the doorway in the chapel in Lourdes.
Crowds poured through the doors in  both directions.
I did not see anyone look up.
Did anyone but me see this gorgeous archway?

The colour in these window is totally divine.
Each one a little bit different from its neighbour.

And finally i saw this.
Who is she?
What a great name for a character in a book.
Oh, she is the main character in a book.
Another name for Mother Mary, the mystical rose.
I did not know this. I love that i do now.

and may you notice a mystical rose or someone in your life.....

How about a nature walk....

have you ever been out for a walk to discover.....
....something?
take a walk with me along side a meandering creek...
be open
awaken your senses...

what do you hear?
birds, water, children, the ground under foot...

what do you see?
many unusual fungi
a mini mushroom growing tall & strong in a fallen log
.... does a little fairy live here?....
a tiny world, unseen to us most of the time
until we stop and look, wonder & imagine....

sometimes i feel i have a heart of stone
but i know mostly it is super soft, fragile, vulnerable and resilient....
i didn't get a job that i really wanted last week.
it would have meant i got to create and work in an artistic way, every day.
i have been sad i didn't get it.
it feels like a lost opportunity...
i don't know whats up around the bend.
uncertainty feels tiring.
the path seems long...
no end in sight.
yet i am blessed
great love and support
assurances that something better must be around that corner
encouragement that this experience has been an door being opened
a new path
new possibilities
a new beginning...
beauty, strength & uniqueness is evident everywhere i look
looking inward it is reflected in me
the energy will come back
to move me forward
upward and onto the next possibility...
and we end up here
its been a nice winters day to take a walk
the powerful waters fall
reminding me its all temporary
everything is as it should be
there is always enough
i am enough
i will find what i am look for
the path is so worthwhile, for there is so much to know along the way...

where did your path take you today?
